Smooth Summer Ready Skin: Are Epilators Worth it?

Epilators. Heard of it, but what is it? How does it work? How does it differ from laser hair removal?

Let’s start.

What are epilators and how do they work?

Think of epilators as electronic tweezers. They are an electrical at home device that temporarily removes hair at the follicle level. It works the same way as waxing or tweezing, which is by removing the hair follicle at the root. The spinning discs remove surface level hair while the spinning motion plucks the hairs out one at a time during a constant motion.

Due to its similarity to waxing, epilating can be a painful method to remove hair.

How long do results last with an epilator?

Using an epilator will give you better results then shaving as it goes beyond the skin's surface. However if you notice the 5’o clock shadow chances are you are going to epilate more frequently than someone with just a few stubbles.

Does epilating cause ingrown hairs?

We all know waxing and shaving causes ingrown hairs. When epilating incorrectly it can cause even more ingrown hairs as it can disrupt the hair follicles causing them to grow in an unnatural direction.

Cost of epilators?

Epilators can cause between $30- $250.
