The Accent XL is a machine that is primarily used for skin tightening, body contouring and cellulite reduction. It can treat loose, saggy skin, stretch marks and help resurface uneven skin by using two types of radiofrequency (RF) known as dual-layer thermography.
For skin tightening, the unipolar type RF heats the tissue below the skin. This stimulates your collagen fibers to shrink causing the skin tightening effect while simultaneously stimulating new collagen growth for firmer skin over time.
For body contouring and reducing cellulite the Accent XL targets the deep layer of the skin to reach the adipose (fat) tissue which helps to stimulate your tissues metabolism and reduce fat cell volume.
Now, the bipolar type RF heats the surface of the skin which works towards skin resurfacing giving you that even skin tone appearance.
Depending on the body area you are completing this treatment on it can take between 20-40 minutes. The technician uses a handheld device that pulses infrared light over the treatment areas. Most patients say it feels like a warm massage on the skin.
Tip: Increase your water intake up to 2 litres/ day a few days before and after the treatment. This allows the RF to more effectively generate heat and penetrate deep into the skin.
You’ll see some skin tightening right after the first few sessions, but because the laser stimulates collagen production you should see gradual improvement over a couple of months. For best results, it’s recommended to start with 6 sessions on one area, every 2 weeks.
